Jack's Journal

How can one beat the feeling of coming off such a high?

Like I honestly don't know. And yes, this is my first personal brain rambling so sorta deep sorry whatever. But I find that every year now, after a great summer with friends, doing some really cool stuff and just 'enjoying life', once it's over there's this bottomless pit of emptiness that makes you feel like utter shit.

I'm a very people person guy, at least when it comes to hanging with close friends. I love nothing more than just chilling and catching up with the homies. Yet, with us all growing up now, these occasions become lesser and lesser, which sucks but is just the inevitability of adulthood (I think, not totally sure about all that yet).

So yeah, I'm not here to preach anything, go much deeper than this surface-level thinking (this is a public website after all, I'm not going to show all my cards… yet) or spill too many personal details about my life. I just wonder if this feeling will wane with age or if it's something I have to suck up for now until the end of my time.

Song of the Week.

Album on Repeat.

Media to Consume.

From left to right:

Sunny | TV Series - This new Apple TV + show, like any ATV+ show, has gone rather under the radar. I'm really enjoying it though, it's definitely got Black Mirror vibes with a bit more goofiness and Rashida Jones' performance is sorta what sells the entire thing.

The Yard, Ep. 162 | Podcast - Alfie showed me this pod and we ended up watching the entire 1.5hr episode together. I've never been someone who was big into streamers, mainly as I suck at finding the time to actually catch things live (like ever). But this is Ludwig's (a popular, very popular in fact, YouTube streamer) podcast with what I believe is just his homies, and it's really fun. Everything flows really well and I've since listened to another episode (that doesn't sound like much but I seriously suck so hard at finding time for these things). I was most impressed with the set dressing though, shit is fire.

Dazed and Confused | Film - A certified classic but I rewatched it last weekend with Alf and I forgot just how cool it was. It's nothing crazy, multiple meaning sorta deal, just a good old coming of age movie that doesn't say much yet still hits you right in the heart as you reminisce about those summer nights whilst finishing up school (even if ours weren't quite as warm and 'American' as they are in this film).

But yeah, welcome to the journal ahahah.

I couldn't think of a more 'Jack' way to jump into things than some depressing ass opening few paragraphs. My apologies friends, you know that's what you get at this point though, so your fault for reading. Going forward though, whilst I don't have an intended structure for when I'll release these little brain ramblings (weekly might be a stretch, so potentially bi-weekly/monthly), hopefully they're a fun little distraction at the end of your week and, at the very least, give you a few things to consume (you can think about what I've said as well, but in this day and age, thinking isn't that cool anymore).

Above, if I've managed to correctly code this website (it's actually kinda hard guys okay give me some credit) there will be a song of the week, album on repeat and a few general media recommendations (YouTube, TV, Film etc). That's my way of 'Jackifying' the stale blog world. Adding a little bit of spice at the end to ensure you know I'm still hip and trendy, yeahhhh.

Anyhow, I guess I'll see you soon on this brand spanking new website. Have a look around by the way, I think it's sorta epic. So please let me know your thoughts (and also if you spot any awful spelling errors, that's more likely).
